Edits, Instagram's editing app, now lets you build carousels that mix photos and videos, on iPhone for now. In the US it also adds an AI assistant that studies your Reels metrics and suggests ideas, hooks and scripts.

Edits, Instagram’s video editing app, now lets you build carousels that mix photos and videos across several slides, with text, audio and elements that carry over from one slide to the next. It’s available on iPhone, with Android coming later. You can post the carousel straight to Instagram or download it to share elsewhere. Android Headlines

What you can do in Edits carousels

A photo can stretch from one slide into the next and a headline can continue across several, the panorama effect that used to require another app. The cutout tool turns part of an image into a sticker, and you get filters, adjustments, color grading, scaling and rotation to line everything up. Fonts, colors, styles and presets saved in other Edits projects carry over, so the carousel keeps the same look as your Reels. Android Headlines

  1. Open Edits and go to the Projects tab.
  2. Tap + and choose Carousel.
  3. Select the photos and videos you want to use.
  4. Place each element, add text or audio and stretch anything you want to cross from one slide to the next.
  5. Post it to Instagram from the app or download it to upload somewhere else.

The Edits AI assistant analyzes your Reels

Since September 30, anyone using Edits in the US, on iPhone and Android, has an AI assistant behind the chat icon. It reviews your follows, views, retention, likes, shares and comments, looks for patterns in your results and suggests video ideas, opening hooks, captions, script drafts and trending audio for your niche. It’s free with a daily prompt limit, and Meta plans more usage through its Meta One subscription. Why it matters if you make Reels

If you already edit your Reels in Edits, carousels let you reuse the same material in another format without leaving the app: the best frames from a video, a before-and-after or the steps of a guide. To make sure the videos you upload look right, check the Reels export settings.

What isn’t confirmed

Instagram hasn’t given a date for carousels on Android or for the AI assistant outside the US.
