Which console to buy for GTA 6: PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series
$499.99: Xbox Series S. $599.99: PS5 Digital. $899.99: PS5 Pro, the only one with a confirmed GTA 6-specific enhancement.

If you’re buying a console for GTA 6, the math starts at $499.99: Xbox Series S, 512 GB. On PlayStation, it goes up to $599.99 for the PS5 Digital, $649.99 with a disc drive and $899.99 for the PS5 Pro.
Only one carries a different label: “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” The label is there. The details aren’t.

What’s known about GTA 6 performance
The PlayStation listing already shows “PS5 Pro Enhanced.” Underneath, the details are still missing: resolution, graphics, FPS.
Davy Jones did come back from Rockstar North with a number: 30 FPS. According to his account, Rob Nelson, the studio’s co-head, told him GTA 6 was running at that frame rate on consoles during development.
He asked about 60 FPS at launch. Nelson answered that he’d have to check with the technical team, as reported by VGC.
That distinction is worth keeping: Rockstar hasn’t published a spec sheet confirming the final graphics modes for each console.
Series S has GTA 6 confirmed. What it doesn’t have yet are its own resolution or performance figures.
The cheapest: Xbox Series S, from $499.99
512 GB: $499.99. 1 TB: $599.99.
And that’s where it crosses paths with the PS5 Digital: same price.
With 512 GB, you keep $100 compared with the PS5 Digital. Step up to 1 TB and it’s gone: both cost $599.99.
The Series S is all-digital, so it has no disc drive. The 512 GB model is also the one that leaves you the least space to install games from the start.
Rockstar still hasn’t published how much space GTA 6 will take. If you’re looking at this console, check the GTA 6 storage guide first, because Xbox uses its own expansion cards to add space where games optimized for Series X|S run.
PS5 Digital: $599.99
$599.99: PS5 Digital, 825 GB SSD, no disc drive.
Open the GTA 6 box and there’s no disc to insert: there’s a download code. Rockstar has confirmed that the GTA 6 physical edition doesn’t include a disc.
Box or digital, the game ends up in the same place: installed on the console.
If you’re starting from scratch and want PlayStation, that’s the entry figure: $599.99.
PS5 with disc drive: $649.99
$50 more: the disc drive shows up and storage goes up to 1 TB.
For GTA 6, that drive sits idle: the box comes with a code. Where it does earn its keep is with your compatible PS5 and PS4 discs, used games and Blu-ray or DVD movies.
That $50 buys the drive and more space. If you already have a shelf of physical games, that’s where much of its value lies.

PS5 Pro: $899.99
$899.99, 2 TB and a label no other console has: “PS5 Pro Enhanced.”
The label is there. What it does, not yet.
A PS5 with a disc drive is $649.99. A Pro, $899.99. That’s $250 between them, and Rockstar still hasn’t put a resolution, a frame rate or a graphics setting on the other side.
The Pro does include twice the storage of the PS5 with a disc drive: 2 TB vs 1 TB. It’s also an all-digital console. The disc drive is sold separately.

Xbox Series X: $749.99 digital or $799.99 with disc drive
The 1 TB digital Xbox Series X costs $749.99. With a disc drive, $799.99.
Compared with the PS5 Digital, that’s $150 more without a drive and $200 with one. Both still come in under the PS5 Pro’s $899.99.
Rockstar hasn’t announced a specific Series X enhancement equivalent to the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label.
With GTA 6, you won’t be putting any disc in that drive: the box comes with a code. The games on your shelf, maybe.
Which one to buy for GTA 6
If you want to spend the least, it’s $499.99: the 512 GB Xbox Series S. Before paying, check two things: storage, and the performance Rockstar still hasn’t detailed for this model.
If you want PlayStation for the least money, it’s $599.99: PS5 Digital. For GTA 6, skipping the disc drive doesn’t change how you install the game, because the box comes with a code too.
Add $50 and the PS5 goes to 1 TB and gains a disc drive. It makes sense if your other games still live on discs.
The PS5 Pro hits $899.99, comes with 2 TB and is the only one with an officially flagged GTA 6-specific enhancement. What GTA 6 gets for that price jump is still unknown.

What isn’t confirmed
PS5, PS5 Pro, Series X, Series S: four consoles and no official resolution published by Rockstar.
60 FPS: unconfirmed. PS5 Pro enhancement: unexplained.
Series S still has no resolution or performance figure of its own published by Rockstar.
There’s also no PC version announced for the November 19 launch.
